Thu-Hương Huỳnh
Thu-Hương Huỳnh is visiting the group this autumn. She is a PhD candidate at Eötvös Loránd University (Department of Plant Taxonomy and Ecology) and an Assistant Research Fellow at the Institute of Aquatic Ecology, HUN-REN Centre for Ecological Research, in Budapest.
During her visit Thu-Hương is working on the effects of heatwaves on ecological communities. Her research more broadly focuses on the impacts of anthropogenic drivers on freshwater zooplankton communities, combining empirical field data with controlled mesocosm experiments, and she has a strong background in zooplankton taxonomy and biodiversity.
Her recent work includes a paper on heatwave-induced functional shifts in zooplankton communities, which result in weaker top-down control on phytoplankton: Huỳnh, T.-H., Horváth, Z., Pálffy, K., … Vad, C. F. (2024). Heatwave-induced functional shifts in zooplankton communities result in weaker top-down control on phytoplankton. Ecology and Evolution.
A warm welcome to Thu-Hương!
